In line with our government policy, "To uphold Malay Language, To strengthen English" or better known as "Memartabatkan Bahasa Melayu, Memperkukuhkan Bahasa Inggeris", OPS English will be fully implemented in our school next year. The reason of being chosen is due to our school achievement in Standard Prestasi Sekolah: Band 4.
Generally, there are two main objectives for the implementation of OPS English:
- To develop communicative skills
- To build confidence
Through this implementation, Form 1 students next year will receive an abundance of English input in their lessons and the lessons will be primarily centred on building listening and speaking skills. That is to say, no pen and paper are allowed in the classroom. There will be merely communicative activities where the teacher's role is to activate, motivate and engage students in a various fun and non-threatening learning tasks.
Therefore, English Panel has decided to organise a workshop on OPS English in order to expose the English teachers to the idea of its implementation. Details of the workshop:
